Frequently Asked Questions

How much do therapy sessions cost?

Individual counseling sessions are $130 for a standard 50 minute session. Couples sessions are $150 and are also 50 minutes. We do offer a sliding fee adjustment scale for economic hardship.

When are you available for sessions? Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?

Generally, appointments are available Monday through Friday from 10am to 7pm, and on Saturday from 9am to 1pm.

We book all sessions on a first come, first serve basis, and sessions outside of typical work hours (evenings and weekends) do tend to fill up quickly. Please contact us to find out what times are available.

Do you accept health insurance?

We accept Aetna Behavioral Health and Aetna Employee Assistance program, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, Medicaid, Amerigroup, Cenpatico (Peach State Health Plan), Medicare, Compsych and Families First.

If your insurance provider is not listed, please contact our office directly to inquire about alternative payment options. We do offer payment options for those without insurance as well.

What forms of payment do you take?

Credit, Debit, Cash and Check are all acceptable forms of payment. You may also make payment via PayPal. If you do want to pay with cash, please bring exact change.

What if I have to move or cancel an appointment?

I understand that things come up, so you can cancel or reschedule your appointment with at least 24 hours notice. If it’s less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged for the appointment. The charge for a missed appointment is the full amount we would have received from both you and your insurance provider had the appointment gone on as scheduled. This includes, your co-pay plus the provider’s portion of the session fee. Missed appointments cannot be billed to your insurance.

What is a sliding scale and how does it work?

A sliding scale is when a therapist offers to reduce the cost of sessions for a client who has a financial need to help make therapy more affordable. Many therapists offer a sliding scale and may structure it different ways.

If you would like to begin therapy with us, but can not afford to pay the regular rate, please contact us and ask about my sliding scale.

What should I expect during the first visit?

You’re not alone. Lots of people feel anxious about going to psychotherapy for the first time. That’s why the more prepared you are when we meet, the more in control you’re likely to feel, and the more useful the therapy will be in the long run.
The very first session is different than any other session because I have to get a lot of information/paperwork from you, and I discuss how I keep that information and your records confidential.

This first session is more like an in-depth consultation, where I go into more detail about what to expect from therapy, and you and I both take some time to get to know each other and learn what has led you to begin therapy. We also will talk about your goals for our work together, and you can ask me any questions you may have about the therapy process or what it’s like working with me.

After the first session, though, there will be very little if any more paperwork for you. You can save time by downloading your paperwork here, and filling it out before our first session.

I’ve never done therapy before, and I’m nervous. What should I expect from working with you and from therapy in general?

It is very normal to experience some nervousness about starting therapy for the first time! I actually wrote a blog post about this exact thing, which you can read here to learn more about what to expect.
