Fees & Insurance

Fees

The first session is more like an in-depth consultation, where we go into more detail about what you should expect from therapy, and we will take some time to get to know each other and learn what has led you to begin therapy. We also will talk about your goals for our work together, and you can ask me any questions you may have about the therapy process or what it’s like working with us. This session is a means of getting an idea of who you are and how we may be of help. It is also the beginning of putting together the course of your treatment. The fee for an initial visit is set at $180.

On-going Therapy Fee Information:

After the assessment, individual counseling sessions are $130 for a standard 50 minute session. Couples sessions are $150 and are also 50 minutes. Agreements about payment amount and method are discussed prior to our first session and then discussed more fully during the initial consultation. We do offer a sliding fee adjustment scale for economic hardship, so please contact us if you have a need.

Payment Information:

You will be expected to pay for each session at the time it occurs unless other arrangements have been made in advance. Payment schedules for other professional services will be agreed upon at the time these services are requested.

Insurance

We accept Aetna Behavioral Health and Aetna Employee Assistance program, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, Medicaid, Amerigroup, Cenpatico (Peach State Health Plan), Medicare, Compsych and Families First.

If your insurance provider is not listed, please contact our office directly to inquire about alternative payment options. We do offer payment options for those without insurance as well.

In order for us to set realistic treatment goals and priorities, it is important to evaluate what resources are available to pay for your treatment. Many health insurance policies include mental health coverage. We can assist in facilitating your receipt of the benefits to which you are entitled including filling out forms as appropriate. However, you, and not your insurance company, are responsible for full payment of our agreed upon fees for treatment. Therefore, it is very important that you find out exactly what mental health services your insurance policy covers. If you have questions, you should contact your plan administrator. We will provide any information we can based on our experience and will be happy to help you understand the information you receive from your provider. If necessary, we may also contact your insurance provider on your behalf.

You should also be aware that most insurance agreements require you to authorize us to provide a clinical diagnosis, and sometimes additional clinical information such as a treatment plan or summary, or in rare cases, a copy of the entire record. This information will become part of the insurance company files, and, in all probability, some of it will be computerized. All insurance companies claim to keep such information confidential, but once it is in their hands, we have no control over what they do with it. In some cases, they may share the information with a national medical information database.

Once we have all of the information about your insurance coverage, we will discuss what we can expect to accomplish with the benefits that are available and what will happen if the insurance benefits run out before you feel ready to end our sessions. It is important to remember that you always have the right to pay for services in full yourself.

Missed Sessions and Cancellations

We understand that things come up, so you can cancel or reschedule your appointment with at least 24 hours’ notice. Simply call the main office number and leave a message. Please contact us the next business day, or as soon as possible, to reschedule. If it’s less than 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged for the appointment. The charge for a missed appointment is the full amount we would have received from both you and your insurance provider had the appointment gone on as scheduled. This includes, your co-pay plus the provider’s portion of the session fee. Missed appointments cannot be billed to your insurance. Missed session or late cancel fees can be waived for emergencies only.
